What this update changes
Dicevaders' second post-launch patch is 1.0b, announced on October 7, 2026. It follows up 1.0a's Chapter 6 work with deeper nerfs to the two fights players flagged most, a fix to The STAR's extra-turn grants, and a helping hand for the Doomed World challenge. As with 1.0a, check that your installed build has the update before treating older boss discussions as current.
Chapter 6 numbers in 1.0b
| Fight | Announced 1.0b change | Effect on preparation |
|---|---|---|
| Tippy | Target defense nerfed from 220,000 to 160,000 | Less raw scaling is needed before the fight |
| The STAR | Starting target defense nerfed from 200,000,000 to 150,000,000; the second and third targets fall along with it, since each doubles | A lower entry wall, and the intended three extra turns are actually reachable |
| The STAR (bug) | Passing a threshold now correctly grants the extra turn every time | The fight no longer silently withholds turns it promised |
These changes apply to Chapter 6 only — the developer says Ultimate Earth keeps its difficulty on purpose while work continues on new endgame content for update 1.1.
Why these two fights got the nerfs
The developer's framing matters for planning. Chapter 6 unlocks early relative to its difficulty, and the first week of feedback showed it acting as a wall for a large share of players — not because the fights were impossible, but because the required scaling arrived too suddenly. 1.0a softened the fight rules; 1.0b lowers the raw defense numbers on the two most disruptive fights. Tippy and The STAR both punish a board that arrives under-scaled, so a lower defense target converts directly into more margin for the rest of the act.
The STAR: what the fixed turns change
The STAR's extra-turn grants were supposed to fire each time you pass a damage threshold — three in total across the fight — but a bug meant they did not always come through. On the old build that could force a loss even on a board with enough doom generation, purely because the fight held back turns you had earned. With the fix, plan the doom math against the turns you can actually count on. The lower starting defense compounds with this: the first threshold arrives sooner, so the first bonus turn arrives sooner too.
Doomed World gets a cushion
The Multiversal Doomed World challenge was stumping players even when it stayed beatable, so 1.0b adds a straight economy buff: you now receive +3$ each time you defeat a target, giving you more money to buy back your board each act. The wipe-and-rebuild design still applies — the bonus funds a replacement army, it does not suspend the rule. Read it as a tempo allowance: the extra income smoothes the first shop after each wipe, which is where most runs were collapsing. The Doomed World guide carries the full rebuild plan.
Other fixes in 1.0b
- The Multiversal Challenges unlock is now more visible.
- Losing in endless mode no longer costs you your winstreak.
- Weaver with Textum Major no longer spawns Webs as if it were Warped.
- Xenn's artifact block no longer persists on a removed artifact (edge case).
- Book of Death now works with Warped Migo.
- More font fixes — wrong fonts or wrong font scale in several places.
The developer notes one known problem still in progress: a compendium softlock. Keep reporting it with your platform and the step that froze.
What 1.0b does not change
- Ultimate Earth keeps its current difficulty; that is deliberate, not an oversight.
- No new content, difficulty mode or endgame layer ships in this patch. The promised replayable high-difficulty mode is announced for a later major update (1.1 or 1.2), not live.
- No changes to artifacts, commanders or the dice systems were announced — this is a balance-and-fixes patch.
The patch cadence so far
For context on how fast this game is moving: 1.0 launched September 29, a day-one hotfix followed, 1.0a (October 2) rebalanced Chapter 6's rules, and 1.0b (October 7) adjusted its numbers. The developer has said more Chapter 6 changes may come as the planned difficulty mode takes shape. If a launch-week guide disagrees with your current client, trust the client.
How to check your build
The patch number appears with the version label on the title screen. If you are still on 1.0a-era numbers (Tippy at 220,000), update before applying any of the 1.0b planning above. Difficulty feedback is routed through the developer's Discord and the Steam forums — an exact board screenshot goes further than an attack total alone.
